Realtor Ian Watt is Going Green

Going Green for Mac

Starting with our transition to the new MacDonald Realty's new Downtown office the Ian Watt Team has decided to go Green!

First of all, Ian Watt and Macdonald Realty offers our clients the ability to make all of their real estate transactions earth friendly.

Macdonald Realty pays to offset the car emissions released by their agents in the course of business - the program is called MacGreen. Our partner, Offsetters Carbon Neutral Society, uses these funds to invest in carbon-reducing initiatives both in Canada and internationally. There is no cost to the client to make any transaction earth friendly and it's great for your Karma - to learn more visit http://www.macrealty.com/macgreen/index.aspx .

Furthermore we are now discontinuing our realtor standard "just sold" unaddressed flyers and sending all our just listed flyers electronically via email to those who sign up and who are interested in our service.

Part of turning green requires that all our documents are now scanned and emailed and although the idea of 100% paper office is ideal, we still need some ink on the contracts to make it legal. Therefore for the exception of our contracts, feature sheets, thank you cards, and business cards - we are proudly going paperless. No longer will you see our "successfully sold" flyers in the bottom of the basket in the mailroom recycle bins.

Imagine this, in 2006 there were over 70,000 ends in Greater Vancouver (over 35,000 sales - each sale with a buying side realtor and a selling side realtor) and should each realtor send out a "just sold" unaddressed junkmail to the neighbourhood that would equal 35,000,000 pieces of wasted paper - and this doesn't even included the "just listed" mailers!

We are living in the age of the internet - if you need to see what's for sale in Downtown Vancouver please visit www.vancouver-condo.ca (its has every mls listing at your finger tips) and to know what's sold in your building contact your local realtor.

So please reward those realtors who are not filling your mailbox with unaddressed junkmail.
